OUTDOOR TIMBER DECKING & COMPOSITE IN TENERIFE
Noble Ipé tropical hardwood, eco-friendly bamboo, and architectural composite decking engineered to withstand UV rays, ocean sea salt, and calima in the Canary Islands.
ENGINEERED FOR TENERIFE’S COASTAL ENVIRONMENT
Proven resistance against 3,000 annual hours of sunshine, ocean salt spray, and calima dust
Across South Tenerife (Arona, Adeje, Costa Adeje, Guía de Isora) and coastal areas throughout the archipelago, outdoor decking faces intense environmental demands: relentless UV radiation, thermal expansion, abrasive calima dust, and airborne ocean salt.
At Denwood, we refuse to use generic softwood kits. We exclusively source tropical hardwoods with densities exceeding 1,050 kg/m³ and proven dimensional stability. Every installation incorporates elevated tropical hardwood or structural aluminum joists with hidden marine-grade A4 stainless steel fasteners (AISI 316), ensuring sub-deck airflow that prevents moisture trapping and board cupping.
UV SOLAR DEFENSE
Deep-saturating microporous oils with UV blockers preventing surface splintering and premature greying.
MARINE-GRADE A4 FIXINGS
AISI 316 stainless steel screws and hidden clips completely immune to chloride and saltwater corrosion.
UNDER-DECK VENTILATION
Self-leveling joists creating a continuous air cavity for rapid rain drainage and zero moisture buildup.
25+ YEAR LIFESPAN
Naturally rot-resistant Class 1 hardwoods like Ipé that repel wood-boring insects and termites.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR PROJECTS IN THE CANARY ISLANDS
Clear technical and regulatory answers regarding timber durability, Atlantic climate resistance, building permits, and custom manufacturing in Tenerife.
Which wood or material is best suited for an outdoor deck in Tenerife’s climate?
In Tenerife’s climate (intense UV radiation, calima sand, and coastal sea salt, especially in the south like Arona, Adeje, and Costa Adeje), we recommend three primary options: tropical Ipé hardwood (density >1,050 kg/m³, unmatched tactile feel and natural resistance to fungi and rot); thermo-densified bamboo (maximum dimensional stability and carbon-negative footprint); or premium architectural composite (WPC) if zero-oil maintenance is preferred.
Do I need a building permit to install a wooden pergola in Tenerife?
In the vast majority of municipalities across Tenerife (Arona, Adeje, Santa Cruz, etc.), open timber pergolas or demountable bioclimatic structures are classified as lightweight shade installations. They do not count toward buildable square meters and generally only require an expedited prior communication (declaración responsable). At Denwood, we provide full technical guidance and architectural drawings.
How do Denwood’s wooden structures withstand coastal sea salt, calima, and wind?
Every structure is engineer-calculated for Atlantic trade winds and anchored using exclusively marine-grade A4 stainless steel fittings (AISI 316), completely immune to salt spray corrosion. Additionally, we saturate timbers with microporous UV-blocking oils that prevent airborne calima dust from penetrating the wood grain.
Do you undertake bespoke projects across all of Tenerife and the Canary Islands?
Yes. While our headquarters and primary fabrication workshop are located in Arona (South Tenerife), we regularly execute installations island-wide (Adeje, Arona, Guía de Isora, Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz), as well as luxury villa and resort projects in Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
What is the expected lifespan and warranty of Denwood pergolas and decking?
With noble tropical hardwoods like Ipé and autoclave Class 4 timbers, our structures boast an estimated lifespan exceeding 25 to 30 years with basic periodic care. Furthermore, Denwood offers dedicated annual maintenance contracts to preserve original warmth and protective barriers effortlessly.
What is the process from initial consultation to final installation?
Our seamless process has 4 steps: 1. Complimentary on-site technical inspection and precise laser measurements; 2. 3D architectural proposal and fixed-price quotation; 3. Millimeter-accurate joinery fabrication in our Arona workshop; 4. Clean, rapid on-site assembly by our dedicated team of master joiners.
